Dubai: Police on Thursday alerted motorists to stay clear of Emirates Road after several vehicles crashed into each other.
The accident was reported to have happened at around 5.50am, near the exit of Al Khawaneej.
In a tweet, Dubai Police urged motorists to take alternative routes and warned drivers to take extra caution on roads due to the heavy fog that reduced visibility to 60 metres.
No injuries were reported as yet.
The traffic accident affected commuters for over an hour, causing heavy traffic jams on the Sharjah-Dubai border.
Two more accidents were also reported before and after Maleha Road in Sharjah, near the Emirates Road intersection.

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) reported heavy fogging at around 4am over Bani Yas area, Abu Dhabi International Airport, Ajman, and the Ras Al Khaimah-Umm Al Quwain Road. The fog affected various areas across the UAE for several hours.

The NCMS also issued a yellow warning, advising residents to be on the look-out for the weather if they are taking part in outdoor activities.
