Abu Dhabi: More than 120,000 Captagon pills (an amphetamine-type of drug) weighing 20kg have been successfully busted in possession of a drug dealer, Abu Dhabi Police said on Saturday.
The dealer has been arrested and charged with trafficking and drug promotion, said Brigadier General Dr Rashid Bu Rasheed, Director of the Criminal Investigations at Abu Dhabi Police.
The move comes in line with Abu Dhabi Police's continuous endeavor to fight the scourge of drugs and put an end to its harmful impacts.
Abu Dhabi Police is always on alert to bust all drug dealers’ activities as part of its efforts to ensure the safety and security of all members of the society. It also spares no efforts to combat trafficking in all kinds of toxins, Bu Rasheed added.
Speaking on the operation’s details, Lieutenant Colonel Tahir Al Dahiri, head of the Anti-Narcotics Department of Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi received a report of a man possessing a large quantity of Captagon pills for the purpose of trafficking and is residing in one of Abu Dhabi hotels.
All necessary measures were taken and the man was caught with a bag containing a huge amount of Captagon pills, and Dh200,000 which he had generated from drug trafficking.
