Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inspected a number of facilities at the Dubai International Airport on Saturday, where he familiarised himself with the movement of passengers through this vital and international gateway.
Shaikh Mohammad, along with Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and CEO of Emirates airline and Group, toured Terminal 3, which is designated for first, business and economy classes.
He also inspected the Emirates airline’s counters — about 50 of them — designated for check-in procedures. Shaikh Mohammad then headed to the counters of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs where he was briefed about passport stamp procedures and was assured of the swiftness of this process without delay or complications, so as to consolidate the internationally acclaimed reputation of the Dubai Airport.
On the next leg of his tour, Shaikh Mohammad visited the lounge for the first and business classes at the terminal for departures where he was assured that Emirates is keen to reflect the authentic spirit of hospitality of the UAE leadership and people.
Shaikh Mohammad and his entourage proceeded to Airbus A380 Concourse 3 on board the underground train, which shuttles passengers from Terminal 3 to the Concourse where he met a number of passengers on board the giant Airbus A380 and was assured of their convenience and safety.
Staying number one
He also visited Dubai Duty Free, where he spoke with shoppers and observed the market activity and its huge footfall due to competitive prices and quality goods and international brands.
During the tour, Shaikh Mohammad asked Shaikh Ahmad about every small detail about Terminal 3 and the Dubai Airport in general, and stressed that he gives special attention to this global landmark so as to remain number one globally in all areas, especially with respect to its users, arrivals and departures.
Shaikh Ahmad said the passenger traffic was up 15 per cent in July compared to the same month last year, and expects that the number of passengers will reach 80 million by the end of this year.
Shaikh Mohammad expressed his satisfaction with all procedures at the Dubai Airport, and underlined the importance of continuous development and update of service facilities as well as of easing travel procedures and good treatment of all users.
