Sana’a: Al Qaida militants launched a deadly attack on a military stop in Dowfes area in the restive province of Abyan, local sources said. Thirty Yemen soldiers were killed and many others were arrested.

The attack was apparently in retaliation for the death of Al Qaida’s commander who was killed on Sunday in Shabwa. The sources said that dozens of militants abruptly attacked the soldiers with automatic guns, RPG rockets. The militants captured tanks, cannons and ammunition. Since early this year, Al Qaida has killed hundreds of soldiers in the province of Abyan as militants try to expand their controlled areas.
