Company eyes 12 Residence Inns and 16 Marriott Executive Apartments by 2025
Dubai: US hotel chain Marriott International plans to expand its hotel apartments in the Middle East and Africa region in the next nine years to take advantage of growing demand in the extended-stay segment.
The company expects to open 12 Residence Inns and 16 Marriott Executive Apartments in the region by 2025.
Of the 28 properties, four will open in the UAE, according to Diane Mayer, vice-president and global brand manager of the two brands.
Residence Inn and Marriott Executive Apartments represent 75 per cent of the branded extended-stay supply and two-thirds of the pipeline in the region, she said in an interview at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai on Tuesday.
“Globally, one third of all business travel room nights are part of an extended stay. It’s even higher in the Middle East, where it’s closer to 40 per cent and yet there are no hotel brands with a meaningful distribution catering to the longer stay need,” she said.
Three Residence Inns are expected to open in Dubai and one Marriott Executive Apartments property in Abu Dhabi.
Marriott currently operates three Residence Inns and six Marriott Executive Apartments in the region.
