Sharjah: A married couple appeared in the Sharjah Misdemeanours Court on unsubstantiated claims by both of them of assault and abuse.

The couple explained that an ongoing row between them led to accusations by the Emirati woman that her husband physically beat her after an argument descended into violence.

The woman identified accused her husband of beating her so severely that he caused physical injuries that have prevented her from carrying out her daily regiment of activities for nearly three weeks.

The woman presented a medical report issued by Al Kuwaiti hospital that indicated bruises on her body.

She further claimed to the court that her spouse put his finger in her eyes and slapped her on her face, then kicked her over all of her body and beat her severely using his hands and legs.

The husband countered that the wife made a false report against him but he did not elaborate.

The man denied the charges and told court that his wife beat him and threw various items at him, including a knife.

On one occasion, the man claimed his wife threw shoes at him in the corridor of their building.

Judge Ehab Mohammad decided to book the case for a ruling.
