Ras Al Khaimah: A Pakistani man was arrested by Ras Al Khaimah Police for smuggling in 103 heroin capsules concealed inside his stomach.

Police officials detained him after a tip-off from his hometown that the suspect would be entering the country with the heroin.

Upon his arrival, police monitored the suspect until he went to his accommodation and then raided the place.

Police found 98 heroin capsules weighing 1kg in his room, said Colonel Adnan Ali Al Zaabi, director-general of the Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Anti-Narcotics Department.

When taken for questioning, the man confessed that he had brought in capsules hidden in his stomach.

He was taken to the hospital, where the rest of the capsules [five] were recovered.

Subsequently, he was referred to the public prosecution.

In total, the 103 heroin capsules weighed 1.36kg and estimated to be worth Dh500,000.

Col Al Zaabi said smuggling capsules by concealing them in the stomach is very dangerous and can also result in the death of the carrier.

Major General Ali Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, lauded the cooperation of police departments in the country.
