Dubai: Parts of Khor Fakkan and Fujairah were inundated in flood waters due to heavy rain late Sunday.

Officials from the Ministry of Public Works visited the affected areas to help residents following two hours of downpour.

Heavy to moderate rains soaked different parts of Fujairah and Khor Fakkan on Sunday afternoon, causing waist-deep flood waters and slowing down traffic on roads to and from Fujairah.

Images and videos of residents showed flooding in Khor Fakkan, Murbah and Qidfa which are all in the north-eastern part of the country.

The heavy rainfall led to the closure of the main road leading to Kalba and Fujairah.

Abdullah Mohammad Bel Haif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works, directed the ministry’s work teams to be ready to find solutions should heavy rain negatively affect infrastructure and citizens’ properties.
