Ajman: A health insurance scheme for government employees has been introduced in Ajman.

Shaikh Ahmad Bin Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Representative of the Ajman Ruler for Administrative and Financial Affairs, issued a resolution on the health insurance scheme to be applied to all employees at Ajman government departments and bodies that follow the civil service law.

The resolution will come into effect as of January 1, 2015.

Rashid Abdul Rahman Al Suwaidi, Director of the Central Directorate for Human Resources Development in Ajman, said the decision comes in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, and itsclose follow-up by Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council.

The move also reflects the Ajman government’s keenness to provide a healthy work environment for government employees to ensure highly skilled national cadres are retained.

The directorate commissioned a study to improve and expand the scope of health insurance in order to provide the best quality of health-care services to employees and their families, Al Suwaidi said.

Al Suwaidi said the health insurance category for each employee is determined according to his job grade.

Under the health insurance scheme, Emirati employees holding special and high-profile positions will get level A, while national employees in jobs spanning grades 1-4 will get level B. Emirati and non-Emirati employees working in jobs from grades 5-8 will get level C, and employees holding jobs from grades 9-12 will get level D.

Al Suwaidi said the decision also takes into consideration non-Emirati employees who will get health insurance in accordance with their grade. He added that the beneficiaries of health insurance include employees and their families, including wife and all dependant children.
