Dubai: A grocery deliveryman has been accused of forcing his way into the garden of a villa and pushing down a housewife before molesting her.

According to records, the alleged incident was reported in May when the 23-year-old Indian deliveryman went to the 35-year-old British woman’s house shortly after she called the grocery to place an order.

The Briton claimed that when she opened the door, the deliveryman forced his way into the garden where the woman had been sitting, pushed her down to the floor, groped her repeatedly, and kissed her against her will.

The woman reported the matter to the police who apprehended the suspect from the grocery where he worked.

Prosecutors accused the suspect of molesting the Briton.

The Indian suspect pleaded not guilty when he appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday.

According to the charges, the suspect exploited the fact that the woman was alone at home and forcibly kissed her and groped her.

“I did not do any of that,” the 23-yeard-old contended before presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi.

The British housewife insisted before prosecutors that the deliveryman assaulted her when she opened the door to take receipt of the goods she had ordered.

“I paid him for the goods but he did not leave and remained standing for a bit at the gate. Suddenly he stepped inside and jumped on me, he pinned me down to the floor and tried to kiss me on my neck. He then groped me but I resisted him and tried to move him away. Then I told him that I will call the police before he jumped off me and ran away. Thereafter I called my husband and told him what had happened and he called the police,” she testified before prosecutors.

A policeman told prosecutors that the Briton was under the influence of alcohol when they went to take her statement.

“She claimed that the deliveryman had molested her, she told us that he threw her down on the grass and groped her private parts. Then we apprehended the suspect while he was in the grocery. During questioning, he alleged that when he went to deliver the goods that were ordered by the woman, she was drinking and invited him for a drink but, he claimed, that he refused and then she complained,” the policeman testified.

A ruling will be heard on December 14.
