Ajman: The Administration of Agriculture and Public Parks in the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department continues carrying out the green belt project for the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed road.
Planting Ghaf and Rhamnus trees and irrigating all locations is also done around the project using treated wastewater in translation of the department’s strategy to increase green areas by five per cent.
Ahmad Saif Al Muhairi, Director of the Department’s Agriculture and Public Parks section stressed the importance of applying Ajman leadership’s vision to enhance the affiliation to the land and to achieve the late Shaikh Zayed Al Nahyan’s dream of planting the desert and expanding green areas all over the country.
He pointed out that the irrigation line project which is 3500 meters long at the Etihad Street to deliver treated wastewater to the irrigation network at a cost of Dh5 million for the first phase has been completed, as well as planting the Shaikh Maktoum Street.
Al Muhairi also said that work is being carried out for the irrigation and planting of the Warkaa Park at a cost of Dh2.3 million in Masfout over an area of 800,000 square meters. He added that work in a 18000 square meters area has been completed for services and park toys.
Another project has also been concluded, he added, at the Al Naseen Park over an area of 24,000 square meters at a cost of Dh2,230,000.
Other concluded projects include the green belt irrigation and planting project at the Al Jurf first phase around the water treatment station to improve the area environmentally.
Al Muhairi also pointed out that local environment trees were planted in an overall area of 50,890 square meters. He added that the department is keen on making use of the treated wastewater in irrigation and that 7,000 square meters of water are pumped daily to irrigate parks and gardens.
