It's that time of the year again when the popular sunny mascot takes centre stage at Dubai Summer Surprises.
Family outings take precedence and children flock to interact with their favourite cartoon character — Modhesh.
A DSS icon that has gained in popularity over the years, Modhesh brings a smile to all, especially children. The little ones as well as the early teenagers also want to preserve their friends' smile round the year and, therefore, clamour to buy a set of memories with each purchase of Modhesh merchandise — from stationery, soft toys and small key chains to bed linen and school bags.
GN Focus asks a few children about their passion for Modhesh.
Aarchisha Choudhury
Age: 10 years

DSS is the best thing to happen to Dubai during the summer, and what makes it so special is Modhesh Fun City. Modhesh is very special to me. The whole of Dubai is filled with Modhesh as summer peaks. I eagerly wait to visit the Modhesh Fun City every year — there are rides for us children, food stalls and colourful counters where I get to see the mascot in various forms.

I love Modhesh because I see him every summer. When I was a baby I used to call him "Lala" because I couldn't speak but my Mum understood what I was talking about. During the summer time when my brother and I are in the car we play "spot Modhesh" because he is all over Dubai. When I went to Australia last summer there was no Modhesh because he only lives in the UAE. I can't wait to see him when our school holidays begin.

I love Modhesh. He looks like the sun and he is never sad. He looks very cute. Last summer, I went to Modhesh Fun City with my family and friends. There were a number of rides and I really had a great time therE. I even won a teddy bear in one of the games stalls - I have kept it in my room and it is my favourite toy. I look forward to going to Modhesh city again this summer to have a great time once more.

I like Modhesh a lot because he looks so nice and shiny like the sun. I have a Modhesh star pillow toy. I love it because it's so huggable. I tagged it along with me everywhere when I was younger and even now I sleep with it at night. Whenever we would go on a long drive and I would spot Modhesh on the roadside, I would become very happy. I like seeing Modhesh and he makes going out so much fun during the hot days.

I was born in Dubai in 2004 and ever since I could understand things, I have seen Modhesh visiting us every summer. He is the most adorable of all the cartoon characters I have seen. I just love his bright, yellow colour. I too shook hands with him once. When I was a toddler, my mummy told me that during one of our regular trips to Deira City Centre, I forced her to buy me a Modhesh soft toy as I was so fascinated by him.
