Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, yesterday issued a decree appointing the board members of the Dubai International Humanitarian City.

According to the decree, the board shall be chaired by Princess Haya Bint Al Hussain, and Khalfan Ahmad Hareb as Deputy Chairman, Sami Dayin Al Gamzi, Mohammad Ebrahim Al Shaibani, Abdullah Ahmad Al Habai, Khalid Ahmad Hareb, Ebrahim Mohammad Bu Melha, Jamal Majid Bin Thunaya and Jumana Salah Al Deen Bu Hanoud as members.

The decree is effective from date of issuance, and is to be published in the official gazette.

Earlier this year, Shaikh Mohammad issued law No. 6, establishing the Dubai International Humanitarian City to support, encourage and develop humanitarian, peaceful and ecological work through attracting specialised foundations.

To achieve its objectives, the city shall coordinate with the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charity Work in Dubai, especially with regards to licensing charity foundations.

The city is also authorised to establish departments, councils, authorities and any other necessary bodies to achieve its targets. It can also appoint, replace and relieve the board members of any subsequent bodies from their posts.
