The Indian consumer electronics giant has a special offer until Diwali, also known as the festival of lights, a five-day Hindu festival: Buy any product online and get it delivered for free in India.
It is an offer worth considering as the Indian government has raised customs duties on flat-screen TVs taken from the UAE to 36 per cent from August 26 to prop up the weak rupee.
Abhishek Malpani, marketing manager at Videocon, told Gulf News that the move is part of a marketing campaign to promote the brand in the UAE.
A 50-inch flat-screen TV costs around Dh3,200 in the UAE at Gitex but Videocon is selling it for Dh2,599.
The pricing is different in the UAE and India. Malpani said the TVs sold in India and UAE are totally different in chassis and model number and so there is a difference.
He said a 50-inch Full HD LED TV if delivered in India and paid for in the UAE will cost around Rs56,000 but if it is bought in India it will cost around Rs76,000. It is cheaper to pay here and get it delivered in India. There is a big difference depending on the size of the screen.
The delivery time is around one week in the UAE and around 15 days in India.
