Dubai: Fairmont Hotels & Resorts said on Wednesday it will open its first hotel in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2016.

The 210-room Fairmont Quasar hotel, to be joined by branded residences, will be a part of the Quasar Istanbul complex, a new mixed-use development in the Sisli district, Fairmont said in a statement.

It added that the project is being developed through a joint venture between Viatrans and Meydanbey. [Viatrans is a Geneva-based company specialising in shipping logistics and insurance as well as commercial real estate.]

“As well as complementing our other developments in the region, it is exciting to be partnering with Viatrans on this amazing project blending hotel, residential and community space,” Jennifer Fox, President, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement.

Two 41-story towers in Fairmont Quasar, sitting above a four-story office podium, will house a Fairmont Hotel and Fairmont Residences as well as Quasar Residences and offices which will be managed by Fairmont.

The Fairmont Quasar, Istanbul will join other Fairmont hotels in the region including Fairmont Kyiv, Ukraine; Fairmont Baku, Azerbaijan (2013) and Fairmont Pekin, Moscow (2016).
