Expatriate arrested for murdering prostitute in Oman

Muscat: An expatriate of Asian nationality was arrested for the murdering of an absconding Asian housemaid in Sohar province recently.

The accused convinced the victim, who absconded from her sponsor, to work for him as a prostitute and make quick money, Royal Oman Police (ROP) statement said.

The housemaid worked in a flat in the Falaj Al Qabayil area of Sohar, where the accused brought her customers.

The man allegedly threw her from the third floor after an argument over money.

The woman died on impact. The man who fled the scene was later arrested along with three of his friends who were participating customers.

Police are warning building owners to check the identity of tenants and report any violations of public order.
