Expat arrested for sexually assaulting woman in Oman

Suspect could face a five year jail term for breaking into victim's house and assaulting her

Muscat: An expatriate of Asian nationality was arrested for sexually assaulting and beating a woman in Saham province last week.

That came after the perpetrator broke into the victim’s house and sexually assaulted her, a statement from the Oman’s police said.

Then the accused fled the scene.

After samples were talen from the victim’s house, the accused was arrested the next day.

He admitted to the crime and the case was forwarded to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and trial.

The accused could face five years jail term at least for sexual assault, according to the article 218 of the Omani Penal Law.

Meanwhile, five expatriates of Asian nationality were arrested for storing and selling diesel in Saham province.

Oman’s police arrested them red-handed while they illegally stored and sold diesel in their rented house.

All the legal actions have been taken against them, an official from Oman’s police said.
