Dubai: Dubai residents can now digitally register their Ejari tenancy contracts to complete transactions with several government entities in one go, without the need to submit physical documents in multiple places.

The Ejari smart app of Dubai Land Department (DLD) has been linked with nine other government departments in order to integrate services that require a registered Ejari contract.

Ejari is required for services of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), residency visa renewal, and other government transactions.

Hamdan Hamad Al Madhani, director of rental relationship regulation department at DLD, said: “As a result of the enhanced cooperation between government entities, we are now working with a number of entities, including Dewa … Thanks to this coordination, Dewa service transactions will be easier to accomplish than ever before, as customers will no longer need to review and submit documents multiple times. This is part of a wider integration of government services that aim to save customers both time and effort.”

DLD has also established partnerships with Dubai Economy; Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, Awqaf and Minors Affair, Tourism and Commerce Marketing Authority; and Emirates Identity Authority.

DLD has also partnered with real estate companies’ property leasing and management systems, including Dubai Properties, Nakheel, Emaar, Dubai Investments Park, Asteco and Better Homes, among others.

Customers can also renew commercial licences and complete the new licensing requirements via smart applications, as long as they have an Ejari registered lease.

The Ejari app is one of the most commonly used channels for registering leases, as it facilitates the process and also offers a variety of other services. It gives users the authority to register leases at any time and from anywhere in the world, and to access information including personal data, lease conditions, property statuses, rent indicators, maintenance reports, and more.

The application is currently being developed in phases to also transfer services to smart formats. An announcement will be made once technical requirements such as legal notices, filing, financial follow-up, collection and other services are completed, DLD said.
