Domestic helper admits to paid sex with strangers

Dubai: A domestic helper has been accused of having paid sex with men at her sponsor’s villa and other places in Dubai.

A neighbour was said to have called up the Emirati sponsor of the 33-year-old Indonesian maid, Y.H., and informed him that he had seen the maid with different men in a car in November.

Y.H. was found missing when her sponsor went to check if she was present in her quarters, according to records.

Upon confronting her when she returned, the maid admitted to her boss that she had been going out with strangers and having paid sex with them.

Prosecutors accused Y.H. of prostitution and having paid sex with a 35-year-old Pakistani driver, K.R.

The Indonesian maid pleaded guilty to the charge when she appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Monday.

“Yes I had paid sex with her,” K.R. said as he pleaded guilty before presiding judge Urfan Omar.

The Emirati sponsor told prosecutors that the incident happened when a neighbour phoned his wife and told her that he had seen their maid with some men in a car.

“My wife called me instantly and informed me what had happened. The caller told us that Y.H. was present outside the house with a group of Pakistani men and that she had been with them in one car. She was not in her room when I checked; 20 minutes later she returned home. When I spoke to her the next day, she admitted to me that she went with K.R. in his car and had sex with him in his vehicle for Dh200. She further claimed to me that she had had sex with other men inside her bedroom without my knowledge; she told me that she allowed them to sneak in and had paid sex with them. Thereafter I reported her to the police,” testified the sponsor.

The woman was cited as admitting to prosecutors that she had had sex with different men for Dh100.

K.R.’s lawyer asked for an adjournment to present his written defence. The court reconvenes on February 1.
