Dubai: A Delhi-Dubai Emirates flight encountered a bird strike late on Tuesday night, causing delays.

Flight EK515 was rescheduled and landed in Dubai at 5.10pm on Wednesday, the airline said on its website.

A passenger said Tuesday’s flight, originally scheduled for arrival in Dubai at 11.50pm, was eventually cancelled after the incident. The passenger added that 300 passengers were moved to a hotel in New Delhi on Wednesday 6am local time.

An Emirates spokesperson confirmed the delay was due to “a technical issue involving a bird strike”.

The spokesperson added: “Emirates apologises for any inconvenience caused and is providing all possible assistance to affected passengers. The safety of our passengers and crew is of utmost importance and will not be compromised.”
