Muscat: A body was washed ashore in Mirbat province on Friday and was recovered by the personnel of the Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance (PACDA), following calls from the residents.

An official at the PACDA told Gulf News that the body was sent to the forensic laboratory in Salalah for further investigation as well as to identify the victim.

When asked if the body was of one of the two Emirati brothers who drowned in a nearby spot in July, the official said that it was very hard to say as the body was severely decomposed.

The laboratory results will be revealed soon, said the official.

The incident had occurred when four Emiratis went swimming despite repeated warnings by authorities as the sea was extremely rough in the Dimr area of Mirbat in Dhofar governorate last July.

Two brothers drowned and their bodies have still not been found.
