Dubai: The Dubai Design and Fashion Council (DDFC) has partnered with Chalhoub Group, the franchise partner of luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Fendi in the Middle East, in a move to develop local and regional talent.

The Chalhoub Group will offer its expertise to designers in a wide array of topics to help them become competitive on both a national and global scale, the DDFC said in a statement yesterday.

“We believe in the growing talents of the region and we are proud to be part of this initiative, where we can share our intimate knowledge of the retail industry and support these young entrepreneurs to build and develop their businesses,” stated Patrick Chalhoub, co-chief executive of the Chalhoub Group.

DDFC offers a range of initiatives under its talent development programme including the Urban Majlis discussion forum, seminars and workshops, in addition to mentorship for local and regional designers.

The Chalhoub Group will support these initiatives by hosting workshops to enable young entrepreneurs to understand and tackle common business challenges and promote knowledge sharing amongst industry experts and designers, according to the statement.

The group has a network of over 650 retail stores.
