With the UAE's hospitality and leisure sector eager to attract business, those who opt to spend a getaway in the country will be enjoying the lap of luxury at considerable savings.

Prime resorts and notoriously pricey upscale hotels in the country are lopping as much as 50 per cent off their normal prices not only during Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), but all through to the end of September.

"Hotels are offering special deals right now, so luxury is now cheap, if you look at it from the price perspective," Premjit Bangara, travel manager at Sharaf Travel, told Gulf News.

Summer months are traditionally a slow period for the business sector in the UAE, considering that tourists tend to avoid holidaying in extremely hot weather.

Bangara notes that there's a slow influx of tourists from European countries at this time of year, although the UAE still gets visitor traffic from neighbouring GCC countries, Japan, China, Sri Lanka and India.

"Historically a slow time due to the weather and travel abroad by resident expats, most businesses in the hospitality, retail and services sector have offered deep discounts to attract tourists to the country and entice residents out of their homes," said Colin Beaton, managing director of Limelight Creative Services.

Beaton adds, there's a lot in store for tourists and residents in Dubai during summer, and it's budget-friendly.

On top of the massive store discounts and shopping rewards, the retail sector has gone all out in offering a wide-array of free entertainment and activities for the whole family, making the rest of the season all the more enjoyable.

"Yes, summer in Dubai is still enjoyable…People who frequent the shopping malls close to their residences during the year tend to visit other shopping malls during summer time to catch DSS entertainment as well as partake in the valuable promotions that different shopping malls put on offer," Rana Jaser, PR and corporate communications manager of Mercato and Town Centre Jumeirah told Gulf News.
