Advice on building the right wardrobe worth the money
So, what to look for when you're out shopping and currently building your wardrobe? Style experts say it's best to keep an eye on basic, timeless pieces.
Plain dark colours are a good investment, as these can be worn year round and will be worth your money in the long run.
"You can choose classic styles that will never go out of style. If you mix your expensive designer pieces bought on sale with the latest high-street trends, you can create a wardrobe that is incredibly stylish without buying a lot of new pieces," says Yolanda Joubert, senior buyer for ladies' footwear at Shoe Mart.
"Black, being a universal favourite, would be a great investment as it can be (worn) at corporate events, social gatherings and night outs. It could be anything from a plain black pencil skirt to black skinny leggings coupled with a white pocket shirt or any plain colour ruffled collared top," she adds.
As to what colours are worth your money, Rayan Certeza, head of visual merchandising at Posh, recommends black and white, which can be worn all seasons.
"Black suits, white shirts are great buys. Basic blue denims are a must in every wardrobe," he says.
Don't forget to swing by the accessories shop. A nice belt, a tasty tie or a fancy necklace can do wonders to a simple outfit. Remember, it's all about the look, so they don't need to be pricey.
"A great belt on denims or necklace on an open neck gown with long earrings can work wonders. But one needs to keep in mind that overdoing it can ruin the look," adds Certeza.
"Always uplift your garments with a stunning piece of jewellery. Statement necklaces, trendy hair bands and bangles are available at great prices and are constantly on special offers…A statement piece at Dh19 or Dh29, artificial diamonds and gem stones on neck pieces and earrings bring the outfit to life," adds Joubert.
