Dubai: Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation, CEO and Chairman of the Emirates Group and Chairman of Dubai International Airport, inaugurated The Hotel Show on Saturday at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

From India to the Philippines, around 560 exhibitors attended the trade event, which wraps up on Monday.

A wide range of products and services are on show, including hotel operating equipment and supplies, furniture and security systems, among others.

Schneider Electric, an energy management solutions specialist, is offering a system that reduces energy consumption “by up to 30 per cent” in hotels, according to Jean-Baptiste Plagne, vice president, life space division at Schneider Electric. The eco-struxure solution is a software and hardware system that is linked to the hotel management system. It optimises heating, air-conditioning and ventilation.

In a nearby hall, Frederic Lourtioux, international project manager at France-based James, is showcasing furniture. The company does fit-out work for hotels, residential buildings and yachts, among others.

“We are looking for partnership in the Middle East,” Lourtioux said. He said that the Dubai hospitality sector is “good.”

Meanwhile, tourism and hospitality industry professionals spoke at the ‘Vision Conference’ about engaging with guests through digital platforms, mobile booking and data security, among other topics.
