Rotana to build 500-room budget hotel in Dubai World Central
The first budget business hotel in Dubai World Central will be constructed at a cost of Dh500 million starting early next year, according to officials.
Dubai: The first budget business hotel in Dubai World Central will be constructed at a cost of Dh500 million starting early next year, according to officials.
Rotana, a leading hotel chain in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region, will operate the 500-room hotel under their budget business traveller brand Centro by Rotana, which was created three years ago.
It is located in the residential section of Dubai World Central and will be about two kilometres from Al Maktoum International Airport in Jebel Ali.
The built-up area will be 400,000 square feet and feature standard rooms, suites, restaurants, health club, business centre, parking spaces and swimming pool.
Enabling is due to start in the first quarter of 2009 with completion scheduled for January 2011.
According to Selim Al Zyr, president and chief executive of Rotana, rates "will not be less than Dh500, because $100 today is not $100 three years ago".
There are about 15 Centro by Rotanas under construction in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Egypt, Bahrain and Qatar. "We have a lot of faith that the geographical zone of Jebel Ali will be a hub of activity even in a more uncertain global economic environment," Shehab Gargash, chairman of Daman Investments, added.
Daman Investments last month announced a new investment holding company, Buildan Development Limited, with Arab investors, with a total capital of $180 million.
