Dubai: A new luxury beach resort is set to open on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Suroor Al Nahyan signed an agreement on Tuesday with Ali Mohammad Sadeq Al Beloushi, chairman of the Ghantoot Group, to develop the resort, according to a statement on Wednesday.

The Dh860 million project is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

The luxury resort will consist of a 295-room hotel comprised of four wings, a spa, wellness centre, gym and meeting rooms. The resort will also have 11 luxury villas, including one exclusive private villa, as per the statement.

“The Saadiyat Island Resort will be a world-class luxury destination at the heart of the UAE’s capital and is the latest in SSPD’s long line of developments, all aimed at creating regional landmarks with the utmost quality,” said Sami Al Khuwaiter, projects director at Shaikh Suroor Projects Department, in a statement.

Ghantoot Group specialises in civil engineering, electrical projects, road construction and transport and marine services. The group’s building division has worked on the Abu Dhabi Presidential Palace.
