Dubai: Musafir.com, a travel website in the UAE, announced in a statement on Sunday that it has entered the Indian OTA (Online Travel Agent) market.

Musafir.com will offer complete travel solutions to Indian travellers, with several product innovations lined up during the year. It has an initial investment commitment of Rs1 billion, backed by parent company Universal Travels and Tourism and India’s Viva Holdings.

“India’s online travel market is expected to cross 550 billion by 2015 and OTAs are expected to account for a 40 per cent share of that market. Our aim is to leverage our expertise and experience to maximise opportunities in this burgeoning market by focusing on the B2C leisure travel segment…,” Sachin Gadoya, the managing director of Musafir.com, said in the statement.

Musafir.com plans to offer tailored holiday packages, but the main focus in the initial quarters will be flight bookings, the statement said. By 2018, it hopes to be among the top 5 OTAs in India.

The travel website offers flights to more than 3,000 global destinations and domestic and international hotel deals at more than 75,000 properties.
