Marriott plans seventh hotel for India
Marriott International, a lodging company with more than 3,000 properties in the Unite States and 66 other countries and territories, on Wednesday announced that it is planning the seventh luxurious JW Marriott-branded hotel for India under a management agreement reached with Uppal Hospitality.
Dubai: Marriott International, a lodging company with more than 3,000 properties in the Unite States and 66 other countries and territories, on Wednesday announced that it is planning the seventh luxurious JW Marriott-branded hotel for India under a management agreement reached with Uppal Hospitality.
The 206-room hotel is expected to open next year in suburban New Delhi. It will be located in Gurgaon on the Delhi-Jaipur 4 Highway.
“We are pleased to see our relationship with Uppal Hospitality expand and to watch our hotels portfolio in India grow rapidly,'' Ed Fuller, president and managing director of international lodging for Marriott International said in Dubai.
“We've been operating in India for less than 10 years and are thrilled by what we have been able to achieve in such a short time,'' Fuller said.
Marriott International's portfolio in India today consists of six operating hotels with another 24 new projects in India slated to open through 2012 under signed management agreements.
JW Marriott Hotels and Resorts is Marriott International's global luxury brand with 38 properties operating worldwide and another 21 under construction.
