Dubai: Jumeirah Group has signed management agreements to operate three luxury hotels and resorts in China, it said in a statement on Thursday.

The properties, which include the Jumeirah Haikou Resort, the Jumeirah Wuhan and Jumeirah Nanjing, bring the luxury hotel group’s properties in its China pipeline to eight — including those in Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Sanya, Macau and Qiandaohu.

“We are delighted to be expanding our portfolio of hotels and resorts in China, which is a significant market for Jumeirah,” stated Gerald Lawless, president and chief executive of Jumeirah Group.

Located on a 136 hectare island, the Haikou resort is expected to open in 2018.

Meanwhile, the Wuhan property, which is expected to open in 2020, is a mixed-use development, which includes a luxury hotel, residences, office space, retail facilities and parks. Site preparation is underway.

The Nanjing mixed-use development, due to open in 2016, will include a four-star hotel, a Jumeirah luxury hotel, office and retail space, and a conference centre. The project is under development.

Jumeirah opened its first hotel in the Chinese mainland, the Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai, in 2011.

Jumeirah currently operates 22 hotels, resorts and residences, of which 11 are in the Middle East, six in Europe and five in Asia. An additional 17 hotels are under development.
