Dubai : The Jumeirah Group has signed an agreement with Shanghai Zendai Himalayas Real Estate to manage the Venu Himalayas Hotel Shanghai.

The new contemporary hotel in the heart of the Pudong district of Shanghai is scheduled to open in 2011.

The Jumeirah Group announced its new contemporary lifestyle hotel brand, Venu, at the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference in April.

In a statement a group spokesman said: "Guests of the first Venu property will be able to tune in, connect, share and celebrate in the futuristic hotel, designed by architect Arata Isozaki and interior designer KCA International to reflect the unique structure and experience of the Himalayas".

Venu Himalayas Hotel Shanghai would be a 400-key, art-themed hotel, with 70 luxury suites, the group spokesman aid.

It would be at the heart of the Himalayas Centre.

Arts and lifestyle hub

The Himalayas Centre is described as an arts and lifestyle hub and includes a modern art museum, a theatre, and retail space.

The project, in front of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre and within a high-end residential area, would be close to the Shanghai Metro system and less than a kilometre from the Maglev train, the group said.
