Dubai: International hotel operator Hyatt is set to launch two new properties under its new Hyatt Andaz brand in Dubai and Abu Dhabi within the next two years, a senior official said.

"We are going to announce a 150-300 room Hyatt Andaz Hotel in Dubai within four months subject to the finalising of the deal while another 200-room hotel coming up in Abu Dhabi," Allan Edgar, Hyatt International Hotel and Resorts' vice-president for marketing, told Gulf News at the Arabian Travel Market. "Hyatt Andaz is a new hotel concept for the next generation where hotel's service personals won't have to wear uniforms, ties and formal attire, while maintaining a vary casual by efficient attire."

The hotels are targeted for the new generation of tourists. While the environment would be casual, the hotels will cater to business travellers as well, he said.

"In three to five years, we want to develop 30 Hyatt Andaz hotels," he said.

Hyatt currently operates three brands in the UAE. It operates a Park Hyatt a Grand Hyatt and a Hyatt Regency hotel in Dubai. However, the company's other brands - Hyatt Resorts, Hyatt, Hyatt Place and Hyatt Summerfield Suites - are still absent.

Global Hyatt will be opening six properties throughout the Middle East region in the next two years. It will open Grand Hyatt in Abu Dhabi in 2009, he said.

Saudi plan

In June 2008, as part of a Resort complex, the 142-room Park Hyatt Jeddah will be the first boutique hotel in Saudi Arabia. As part of the development, Hyatt International will also be managing a marina, a large convention and banqueting area, and an upmarket Spa and Health Club.

Grand Hyatt Doha will be opening its doors in the spring of 2008, where it will include 268 rooms over five floors, a 1,500 square metre ballroom, private beach, Spa and Health Club and a handful of restaurants and retail shops.

"Hyatt is therefore taking the lead in the region's luxury hospitality sector. From Dubai to Doha and Amman to Jeddah, Hyatt's Grand, Park, and Regency brands have drawn a very loyal regional following."
