Abu Dhabi: Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the world's first Ferrari theme park, currently under construction on Abu Dhabi's Yas Island, is scheduled for opening on October 28, people familiar with the developments said Wednesday.

"It will be a sign of friendship between our two countries," Italy's ambassdor to the UAE, Paola Dionisi, said at a function that was held to update the media on the park's progress.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, which will be the world's largest indoor theme park, will feature a number of attractions, including rides for children of all ages providing the complete Ferrari experience.

Over 20 state-of-the-art attractions, each designed to bring to life a different part of the Ferrari story, including the world's largest rollercoaster, reaching speeds of up to 240 kilometres an hour, an interactive 4D fantasy adventure for the family and a flume ride through the heart of a Ferrari 599 engine, will be opened to the public.

"Ticket prices will be released as we move closer to the opening date," said Ferrari World, promising to offer guests great value for their money.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will be a celebration of the Italian automaker's past, present and future and will pay tribute to the passion, excellence, performance and techical innovation that it has established over the years.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is being built by Aldar Properties, the emirate's largest real estate master developer.

The park will be managed by Farah Leisure Parks Management, a joint venture company of Aldar and ProFun Management Group, an international leisure facilities management and operating company.

Yas Island is a 2,500 hectare island, dedicated to leisure, entertainment and lifestyle.
