Abu Dhabi: Citymax Hotels, a UAE-based mid-market brand, is set to add 700 hotel rooms in the country by 2017 with three new projects currently under development.

The new hotels will reflect similarities in exterior design with each one incorporating features such as a roof top pool, bar, and sun deck. Room interiors are currently under design, and will all be an average of 25 square metres in size.

“With mid-market hotel development high on the agenda for both government and private sectors in the UAE, Citymax Hotels is currently expanding its successful business model within the UAE with plans to reach out into the GCC in the next few years,” said Russel Sharpe, chief operations officer.

The first of the hotels to open will be located in Al Barsha, and will feature 120 rooms. The next will be Citymax Hotels Ras Al Khaimah, located by the creek in the Al Nakheel area of the emirate. The last hotel will in Dubai’s Business Bay, and will set new standards within the budget hotel category.

“The budget hotel category will be one of the most fiercely competed categories in the region in the coming years,” Sharpe added.
