Dubai: Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) and India’s TUI, a leisure travel company, have launched a month-long destination campaign in New Delhi to increase Indian visitor numbers to the emirate.

“With much more to see and do in Abu Dhabi as well as increased air access from the country following Etihad Airways’ equity stake in Jet Airways, we expect to see strong growth in the number of Indian guests choosing the emirate as their preferred holiday destination,” Bejan Dinshaw, Country Manager for India at TCA Abu Dhabi, said on Thursday in a statement.

The campaign, called ‘Abu Dhabi Month’, is expected to run throughout August in the TUI flagship store at the Indian capital’s Select Citywalk Mall. It will offer marketing and online activations, including in-store branding and collateral, as well as a joint e-marketing campaign.

“By harnessing TUI India’s extensive knowledge, we are forging a strong partnership to bring compelling packaging opportunities to market,” Dinshaw said.

In the first half of 2013, around 80,179 Indians stayed in Abu Dhabi’s 145 hotels and hotel apartments, up 22 per cent on last year. The tourists accounted for 334,238 guest nights, an increase of 43 per cent on 2012, and they stayed an average of 4.17 nights, up 17 per cent.
