Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, on Tuesday announced that the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) is set to develop the Al Hisn Island, a leisure and tourist attraction located in Dibba Al Hisn.

Overlooking the Indian Ocean, the project is located on a reclaimed island that was built as a residential area, facing the Flag Square in Dibba Al Hisn, which was developed by Shurooq. The new development will feature a water canal, a host of restaurants and cafés, in addition to a movie theatre, children playgrounds and other amenities.

The new project, which is now in the planning and design phase, will feature Islamic Andalusian designs inspired by Al Hamra palace.
