Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) announced on Sunday a Dh15 million extension to Al Badayer Oasis, which will have two new buildings added to its existing components.

The 955-square-metre additions will increase Shurooq’s investments from Dh45 million to Dh60 million. The project, which is currently under construction, still has the same completion date despite the new additions.

Al Badayer Oasis is developed over 24,000 square metres, and comprises a camp, a resort, a lodge, and dining outlets. Other facilities include an amphitheatre, a mosque, tents, and retail outlets. The development is currently under construction.

The first of the new buildings features 10 rooms to provide hotel services to visitors, while the second building features a gym.

Marwan Al Sarkal, chief executive officer of Shurooq, said the implementation of the project is part of the Authority’s plan to develop all region in Sharjah to promote tourism in the emirate. The project provides visitors with desert exploration options, desert tours, and tours to observe wildlife in its natural habitat.

Al Badayer is one of various projects Shurooq is working on that focus on promoting Sharjah through sustainable developments. Others include the Mleiha archaeological and ecotourism project, the Kalba ecot-tourism project, and the Kingfisher Lodge project.
