Dubai: Hilton Worldwide, a US-based hotel chain, plans to introduce its midscale brand, Hampton, in Dubai in 2017. This will mark the brand’s entry to the Middle East.

The 420-room Hampton by Hilton Dubai Al Qusais, which will be developed by Wasl Hospitality and Leisure, a subsidiary of Wall Asset Management Group, is expected to be the largest Hampton property under development globally.

Speaking to Gulf News on the sidelines of an event in Dubai on Tuesday, James Holthouser, executive vice president of global brands at Hilton, said the brand is targeted at families and Chinese travellers in the region.

“Increasingly travellers want to come to this part of the world so we are interested in developing hotels in this part of the world, “ he said.

Hilton is looking to take the brand to Saudi Arabia and Sub Saharan Africa.

Dubai is also expected to see the Hilton Garden Inn Dubai Al Mina and Hilton Garden Inn Dubai Al Muraqabat open this year, and Hilton Garden Inn Dubai Al Garhoud in 2017.

Hilton operates 70 hotels in the Middle East and Africa, with 83 projects in the pipeline which are scheduled to open in three to five years.

There are 12 brands in Hilton’s portfolio, with six in the Middle East.
