Abu Dhabi: Emirates Palace announced Wednesday a plan to sell small souvenir gold bars engraved with the Emirates Palace logo through the world's first gold ATM.

The "Gold To Go" vending machine project was launched by Hans Olbertz, General Manager of Emirates Palace and Thomas Geissler, Chief Executive of Ex Oriente Lux AG, the inventor of the "Gold to Go" machine.

"We seized upon this idea and, as one of the most exclusive hotels in the world, we wanted the Emirates Palace to play a pioneering role and be the first hotel in the world to offer its guests this golden service," Olbetz said. The machine, which monitors the price of gold minute-by-minute, offers small bars that weigh up to one gram and one ounce, engraved with the Emirates Palace logo, as well as a variety of coins.

Thomas Geissler, Chief Executive of Ex Oriente Lux AG, said: ‘"If you enjoy [for] one day the luxury [of] staying in the fabulous Emirates Palace, you would definitely like to take a souvenir with you."

You couldn't have a more valuable or opulent reminder of your stay at the Emirates Palace than pure gold, he said.
