Dubai: One of Dubai’s iconic landmarks, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, is shutting its doors next month to pave way for the completion of a two-year makeover.
In a note sent out to its customers, the Dubai-based hotelier Jumeirah Group said that its 618-room property, which has beachfront villas and restaurants and bars, will not be accepting guests from May 11, 2018.
The only facilities that will remain open will include Wild Wadi Waterpark, Talise gym and café, certain parts of the beach and the Kids Club for Talise members.
The wave-shaped hotel first opened in 1997. The hotel operator had announced late last year that the family lifestyle resort is going to undertake a significant makeover from mid-May to early October 2018, during which the property will not be accessible to guests.
The project is part of a two-year renovation programme of the whole hotel.
“The hotel will relaunch in early October, in time for its 21st anniversary celebrations in December 2018, with a fresh look and new guest facilities designed to create memorable experiences for years to come,” the hotel said in a statement earlier.
The upcoming renovation work will include 425 guest bedrooms, public spaces, lobby, retail areas, beach and outdoor facilities, restaurants and dining outlets. This follows initial renovation work that completed in 2017, covering 172 rooms and three suites, the Kids Club, beach and beachfront restaurants.
