Dubai: The latest edition of the construction and allied industry trade show, the Big 5, hopes to set another record in visitor numbers when it opens Monday (November 23) in Dubai. Some 3,000 exhibitors will be showcasing their wares at the event that runs for four days.

“Last year we pushed the show past the 80,000 barrier in terms of participants, and this year we are aiming even higher,” said Josine Heijmans, Event Director. “This year, for example, visitors will have access to the biggest programme of free CPD (continuing professional development) certified education in the Middle East and Asia, and even more live product demonstrations.”

Green building certification will also feature as UAE maintains its position among the Top 10 countries for LEED certified buildings. “In the last few years we’ve seen exponential growth in the demand for green building certification on account of its ability to reduce the overall cost of a building,” said Mario Senevirante, Director of Green Technologies.

Meanwhile, for of the GAIA Awards 2015, 283 entries have been submitted. This was launched in 2008 to promote green building products that contribute to sustainable development.
