HP’s Pavilion 300050 Mini Desktop offers the same power as the large tower but in a small and attractive case, smaller than a Mac Mini or Alienware Alpha.

It is powered by 1.6GHz Intel Core i5 processor with 8GB of RAM and 1TB of hard disk storage. It runs on Windows 8.1 operating system. It weighs around 1.1kg.

“It is a new trend happening in the desktop category. Like new form factors in laptops, we have come up with new form factors in desktops also,” said Narayanan Venkataraman, PC category manager for printing and personal systems at HP Middle East.

These mini desktops are “fully-featured desktops” and no compromise made. It saves space and “we are seeing good traction among commercial and consumers,” he said.

It is priced at Dh2,599 but sold at Sharaf DG stand for Dh1,999 and with freebies worth Dh1,843. The customer saves Dh2,443.

With its rounded shape, curving to a bowl-like bottom surface, it houses two USB 3.0 ports in the front and the back, one HDMI at the back, three-in-one card reader on the side, one headphone jack at the back.

HP also has a device powered by 1.9GHz Intel Core i3 processor with 4GB of RAM and 1TB of hard disk storage for Dh1,999 but sold at the stand for Dh1,499 with freebies worth Dh1,594. The customer saves Dh2,094.
