Dubai: The doors for the second Consumer Electronics Fashion (CEF) The Big Shopper, to be held at Sharjah Expo Centre, will open on Wednesday.

Antoine Georges, managing director of Dome Exhibitions, organisers of the four-day event, told Gulf News that the event is focused on the needs of consumers based in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.

He said the objective is to make the shopping experience easy and fun for the family.

Due to the strong demand from the consumers and the request from retailers, this year’s event is increased from three to four days.

“With electronics, fashion and sports, we are expecting a healthy mix of visitors. We have added ‘home style’ as category based on customer feedback.

The key retailers participating are Sharaf DG, Jashanmal, Sun & Sand Sports Factory Outlet, Grand Stores, Xpressions, Home Style, Smart Baby, Iconic, Hello Kitty, and brands such as Nine West, Levis, Nautica and New Balance.

Last year, he said the event earned Dh25 million and expects Dh40 million this year.

He said that discounts of up to 75 per cent on select category and bundle offers are offered as distributors would be willing to clear their existing inventory and get ready for the next cycle which would directly benefit the visitors.

The show opens from 10am to 11pm, and the ticket is priced at Dh5 while entry for children below 12 years is free. Nilesh Khalkho, Chief Executive Officer of Sharaf DG, said that visitors can expect great offers in smartphones, tablets, notebooks and home appliances.

“The first edition gave us a great result, we will be having offers across our luggage, appliances accessory category this year. All offers will be limited to first in first out basis,” Ram Udupi, General manager for Jashanmal.

He said that Sharjah needed this kind of a shopping bonanza to cater to consumers in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.
