Index, the Arab Gulf’s single largest event for interior design products, opened in Dubai on Monday, featuring more than 1,000 exhibitors, organisers said.

The 26th edition of Index is being held alongside the 15th edition of “workspace at Index,” an exhibition focusing on commercial interior design.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, opened the two events held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, organisers said in a statement.

There over 1,000 exhibitors at the two events including 350 new exhibitors, the statement said.

The value of the interior and fit-out market in the Arab Gulf was last valued at $7.35 billion (Dh26.97 billion), the organiser said citing data from Ventures Middle East. “Index has seen significant growth over the years and is back with even bigger editions for 2016. The event offers the best opportunity in the region for the design community to come together for networking and sourcing products and judging from the buzz this morning, it’s set to be the best year yet,” Samantha Kane Macdonald, Event Director, Index, dmg events stated.

Workspace at Index features over 150 suppliers from 120 countries, organisers said.

Index and workspace at Index are open until May 26.
