Dubai: Microsoft Devices forayed into the mid-range market by unveiling its Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM smartphone, the bigger version of Lumia 640, running on Windows 8.1 operating system.

The 5.7-inch IPS LCD display (1280 x 720 pixels resolution) with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage capacity. It can be expanded up to 128GB via micro SD card.

The 13MP autofocus rear camera has Carl Zeiss optics and LED flash has a 1/3-inch sensor size while the rear camera is 5MP.

Devasish Auddy, head of marketing for Lower Gulf at Microsoft Mobile Devices, said that the device can be upgraded to Windows 10 and is priced at Dh799. It currently runs on Windows 8.1.

He said that it will be available with exclusive accessories such as Coloud Boom headset and a sleek Mozo flip cover and screen protector, and a one-year subscription of Office 365 Personal, which includes the latest Office applications (and 1TB of OneDrive storage), both worth Dh295.

“People are looking for a device which gives them more flexibility to switch easily between work and play, without breaking the bank. Lumia 640 XL presents a strong option for those customers who want the increased productivity a smart device offers without sacrificing affordability,” he said.

The smartphone also comes bundled with several app offers. Users will get two months free and unlimited access to movies and TV series on ICFLIX as well as Box TV app, Dh100 off on the first ride booked through the Uber app.
