Dubai: Dubai Duty Free is hosting a three-day sale at the airports, which is a perfect time for travellers to bag some bargains just before heading home for the holidays.
The pre-Christmas 34th Anniversary Sale runs from December 18 to 20 and offers 25 per cent discount on a wide range of products at both Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International.
The discount can be availed of by passengers departing, passing through and arriving at the two airports. It applies to a number of duty-free goods, but it does not cover gold, electronics, telephone cards, fahsion, jewellery. watches and perfumes.
“The 34th anniversary is sure to signal another sales milestones for the retailer with the special 25 per cent discount offer available for all departing, transiting and arriving passengers,” Dubai Duty Free said in a statement.
The sale kicked off at midnight on the 17th of December and will end at midnight on the 20th of December.
Customers can also avail themselves of the the discount offer online for three days through the DUbai Duty Free website, with the exception of the Finest Surprise and Millennium Millionaire tickets which are eligible for discount only on the anniversary day itself, 20th December.
Colm McLoughlin, executive vice chairman and chief executive officer of Dubai Duty Free said the anniversary promotion is now a highly-anticipated event, with many travellers choosing to travel on these days.
“There is a great carnival-like atmosphere throughout the retail operation over the three days and our team of staff do a terrific job throughout the busy period. This is our way of saying thank you to our customers who help us mark this anniversary.”
The pre-Christmas travel season has already kicked off, and airlines are expecting hundreds of thousands of passengers travelling through Dubai airports in the run-up to December 25.
Emirates had earlier dealt with the bulk of the holiday travellers, with some 420,000 passengers passing through Terminal 3 from December 14 to 16.
