Dubai: Majid Al Futtaim said on Thursday it has completed the redevelopment of Mall of the Emirates.

On September 28, the mall will reveal a new 36,000 square metre retail extension that will bring in 40 new retail, dining and entertainment outlets, including 20 fashion brands, 12 restaurants and a revamped 24-screen VOX Cinemas. The extension will also have retailers debuting in the Middle East.

The revamped cinema will feature the first IMAX with laser screen in the Middle East, the largest 4DX screen, the new Theatre by Rhodes luxury concept in a collaboration with Michelin Star chef, Gary Rhodes, as well as two kids cinemas with an adjoining party room.

“By reshaping Mall of the Emirates with Evolution 2015, we continue to evolve and enjoy a competitive edge and leadership position as the Middle East’s leading luxury and lifestyle destination,” Michael Cesarz, chief executive of the Shopping Malls Business Unit, at Majid Al Futtaim Properties, said in a statement.

The redevelopment project, called Evolution 2015, started in 2013 with an investment of more than Dh1 billion.

Phase 1, which was completed in 2014, included the Dh100 million Fashion District, featuring new boutique brands to the UAE. The beginning of Phase 2, meanwhile, included a new taxi rank located next to Ski Dubai, with an investment of Dh10 million.

Mall of the Emirates also increased its car park capacity by building a parking deck with rooftop shade on Level 4, creating 1,300 new spots.
