Dubai: British-based Hi-Fi loudspeaker manufacturer KEF has entered the Middle East market for the first time with three headphones.

They have tied up with Max Electronics, part of Landmark Group, as the main distributor.

Neelesh Bhatnagar, CEO of Max Electronics, told Gulf News, that KEF is one of the premium products Emax is bundling with some of its smartphone and laptops. Otherwise the sales are reasonable for the standalone headphones.

“We want to throw around 1,000 pieces for consumers to experience the richness in sound as it is new to the market. We need to gather some audience,” he said.

Max has launched two models of on-ear headphones — M500, M400 and one in-ear headphone — M100 — with different colours.

The M500 is priced at Dh1,199 while the M400 at Dh899 and M100 at Dh599.

Bhatnagar said that the headphones have a lightweight comfortable design with excellent build quality and can be folded up and fit into an attractive protective carrying case. They are not pricey as other top headphone brands and offer better hi-res sound.

Bhatnagar said that other portable and wireless loudspeakers from KEF will be launched soon. Award-winning designer Ross Lovegrove has teamed up with the manufacturer to design its Muon loudspeakers. Muon speaker has a sensor inside the speaker to adjust the sound automatically, depending on its orientation. KEF has extraordinary audio speakers which cost $200,000 per pair.
