London: Department store Debenhams said on Thursday it plans to cut 320 in-store management roles, following several other British retailers who are shedding staff to cut costs. Debenhams, which warned on profit in January after a poor Christmas, said the job losses formed part of a programme to reduce costs by about £10 million (Dh51 million, $14 million) this year. The retailer said it aimed to redeploy staff where possible.

Shares in the firm, down 47 per cent over the last year, were down 0.3 per cent at 0834 GMT.
