Dubai: Buyers looking to get their hands on fragrances, beauty, hair and well-being products can head to Beautyworld Middle East, which is set to open its doors in Dubai next Tuesday.

Taking place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, the three-day event, now in its 20th edition, will feature 1,450 exhibitors from 60 countries. Around 25 per cent of the exhibitors will be from the United Arab Emirates.

“The ongoing shift of the global beauty industry to emerging markets, such as the Middle East and Africa [creates] exciting opportunities for regional and international suppliers,” said Ahmad Pauwels, chief executive of Messe Frankfurt Middle East, the show’s organiser, during a press conference in Dubai on Tuesday.

Exhibitors at Beautyworld Middle East are keen on taking a slice of the Middle East and Africa’s (MEA) burgeoning beauty and personal care market, which was valued at $25.7 billion (Dh94.39 billion) in 2014, according to data from research firm Euromonitor International.

The market is forecast to grow by 4.8 per cent annually by 2019, nearly twice the global average of 2.6 per cent, it said.

Saudi Arabia accounts for 41.6 per cent of the MEA beauty market, with consumers having spent $4.8 billion on beauty products last year. It is followed by Iran and the UAE, which have spent $3.5 billion and $1.4 billion, respectively.

Beautyworld Middle East will cover an area of 48,600 square metres, 10 per cent bigger than last year’s event.

The event will also showcase 24 country pavilions representing countries like Italy, Germany, the United States, Brazil, Turkey and France. Some of the companies exhibiting for the first time will come from Croatia, Russia, Slovenia, Denmark, Finland and Sweden, among others.

The show will feature regional product launches across different categories, such as in the hair and skin care ranges.

Taking place alongside the exhibition will be the Hair Education workshop and the Spa and Wellness Management Summit, which covers developments and trends in the region’s spa industry.

Also running alongside the event will be the Beautyworld Middle East Boutique, which will showcase global beauty brands, and the Fragrance Station, displaying 200 fragrances.

Beautyworld Middle East is expected to attract 30,000 visitors, up 10 per cent compared with the 2014 edition.
